1890s RUBIFORM FOR THE TEETH EW Hoyt & Co Lowell MA BIM Applied Tooled Cork Top Medicine Bottle
Rubifoam was described as “A Perfect Liquid Dentifrice. Cleanses, Preserves and Beautifies the teeth. Heals and hardens the gums. Leaves a refreshing coolness in the mouth. Imparts a delightful fragrance to the breath.” Rubifoam cost twenty five cents a bottle and was described as being “deliciously flavored.”
This is a bottle from an estate collection that had been in storage from 1966-2017. The original collection was over 4000 bottles. The family that built this collection was deeply into historical preservation and conservation. They did their own digging, which included collecting all the of the paper travel memorabilia as they traveled across the American West looking for these old bottles (and insulators, and rocks – but we didn’t get those collections). In some cases, we have items that were prepared for going to shows, and then we have boxes and boxes of bottles that are “freshly dug”.
