1895 CHICAGO 17″ INDOOR BASEBALL BOX SCORE NEWSPAPER CLIPPING Olivets v Wheelmen
This is a newspaper clipping from a Chicago newspaper (unidentified) with the box scores from games “On the Gaslight Diamond”. If you have not heard of Indoor Baseball, it was kind of a craze in the 1890s through the early 1920s. It was played during winter months (before Basketball), and was played at the high school level, but eventually there were professional teams too.Google ‘The World of Early Amateur & Youth Sports in Chicago’ for more info. It’s pretty fascinating. Many teams here with names that will remind people of old Chicago.
