19?? MOTORING IN GERMANY 11 Suggested Tours of the Federal Republic TRAVEL GUIDEThis piece is difficult to date because of the map on the back, and the photos of cars inside. The map appears to make this pre-1938, particularly because of the inclusion of Prussia, and the exclusion of chunks of Czechoslovakia. However, there are numerous photos of VW Beetles, which didn’t roll off the line till 1938. And, in the photos in this travel guide, beetles are everywhere. Other photos, a Mercedes, in particular, appears to date between 1946-51. However, the problem there is the map showing a continuous “Germany”, not “occupied”, and certainly not divvied up, particularly Prussia. So, it is hard to imagine this being a post-war brochure too. Yet, other cars in the photos are far more 40s than 30s. So, as much as we’d like to tell you when this is from, it’s taken the better part of an afternoon to figure out it’s better to put it out there, and let some other expert educate us. We will edit the listing if we can before bids, if someone knows for sure.
