1937 FEB 10 FDC CACHE CONFEDERATE STATES 75TH ANNIVERSARY Elizabeth City NCUSS Jacob Jones was sunk in WW2 off the coast of New JerseyThis is from a rare collection of First Day Cover Caches that attempted to mail a commemoration of the Civil War from the city where the event happened 75 years earlier. The stamp used on each of these were various 3-cent stamps that do not match the event. So, while not technically a first day cover of the stamp, this appears to be the only release of this series of commemorative caches.In researching these, I could find no example at all of these whatsoever on the Internet. They may, in fact, be one-of-a-kind items. They were stored in a larger collection of First Day Covers collected by my Mom over a period of at least 70 years.
