Description

1950s ALLOCATED METAL TOKEN “S” Manufacturer Sample Bus Coach Transit Token RAREWe’ve seen plenty of manufacturer sample tokens before. We have lots in our eBay Store. This one, however, appears to be rare to the point of maybe being a one-of-a-kind.Typically, companies like Johnson Far Box (JFB) would create tokens with a bus in the center, and it would often say “Johnson Fare Box” or “JFB” in the design. “Allocated” is another common name. The difference here is a sample with an “S” cutout. And, the words around the perimeter are “Allocated Metal Token”, which delivers exactly two Google search results. One is an American Vecturist Association newsletter from 1951. The other is from The Fare Box, a newsletter from 2016. Screenshots from both are in this listing.Noted in each newsletter is that all samples have a bus in the center. No mention of a cutout “S”.It’s possible one of you are an expert and shed light on it. We’ve checked The Token Catalog and Numista without success. In the meantime, due to it being a potential one-of-a-kind, we are pricing it as though it is. We will adjust if new info comes in. If you appreciate rarities, this might be one to grab.
