Description
1967 CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY CTA EMPLOYEES’ STREET GUIDE AND DIRECTORY 6th Ed.
This is a pocket-sized book issued to CTA employees as a reference guide to Chicago’s streets (and suburbs). It also has a wide variety of information that could be useful for tourists asking questions – including the radio/tv stations, hospitals, department stores, hotels/motels, and even sports stadiums. It also has misspelled “Employes’ Check List of Good Will Builders” on the back cover. If you read through the list of 9 question topics, it demonstrates an intention to give riders a great and dignified experience. A throwback to an era when service vs. self-service was a part of public transportation. It was collected by a former CTA employee who retired in the 1980s. We have many more CTA items from his collection.
